When an SKX Meets a YM

What happens when you take the rugged charm of an SKX and blend it with the refined aesthetics of a Yachtmaster? Well, that’s exactly what one of our clients envisioned for their bespoke build—an SKX-Yachtmaster hybrid that seamlessly combines sportiness with elegance.

The Design Concept

Our client wanted a timepiece that captured the DNA of both legendary watches, blending the robustness of the SKX with the luxurious, nautical feel of the Yachtmaster. The result? A unique build that stands out in the best possible way.

The Build

The dial is a black Sub-style design with no minute track. It keeps things clean and sleek, letting the rest of the watch do the talking. To match, we went with Mercedes-style hands—classic, functional, and a perfect fit for this build.

To complement the dial, we used a chapter ring with a minute track. This small detail helps balance the look, keeping everything in harmony.

For the crystal, we chose a double-domed sapphire with a blue AR coating. Not only does it improve clarity, but it also gives off a subtle blue tint at certain angles, adding to the watch’s character.

One of the best parts of this build has to be the bezel. We used a flat Yachtmaster-style bezel insert in steel. It blends beautifully with the case and really ties the whole design together.

Inside, we went with the reliable NH35 movement. It’s a solid, no-nonsense choice that keeps the watch ticking smoothly.

For the strap, we opted for a black rubber band. It’s comfortable, durable, and gives the watch a sporty yet refined touch.

The Final Result

This custom piece is a perfect blend of two iconic styles. It’s rugged yet sophisticated, bold yet understated. Whether you're wearing it casually or taking it on an adventure, it just works.
